Katherine Machado, DPM, brings compassion and dedication into each aspect of her patients’ care in Miami, Florida. Dr. Machado has treated and cared for a wide variety of foot and ankle pathology, including a special emphasis on foot and rearfoot surgery, diabetic foot care, and wound care.Many patients begin working with Dr. Machado based on her caring nature and integrated approach to patient care. She works alongside the patient to understand their unique foot or ankle condition, and provides patient education on foot and ankle health issues so that they can receive the best treatment for their needs. Dr. Machado began her studies at the University of Miami, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology and minored in Chemistry. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at Barry University before eventually achieving her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from their podiatric medicine program. Following her studies, she pursued further educational opportunities and took part in a three-year residency program at Baptist Health South Miami Hospital. In addition, she is passionate about volunteer work and enjoys working with her community. Dr. Machado is a dual board-certified podiatrist and foot & ankle surgeon through the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is also an active member of several professional associations, including the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), American Diabetes Association (ADA), and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. Her honorary awards include the Pi Delta National Podiatric Honor Society, Dr. James V. Stelnicki Scholarship for Excellence in Lower Extremity Vascular Medicine, Clinic Podiatric Scholarship, Barry University Leadership Award, and the APMA Educational Foundation Award. When she’s not helping patients find the best treatment for their foot and ankle relief, Dr. Machado enjoys spending quality time with her family and traveling.
Dr. Machado has an extensive training in elective and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, including arthroscopic surgery, pediatrics, trauma, diabetic foot care, lower extremity wound care.
